Selection of Winners
All submissions will go through a selection process and winners will be selected on August 31st, 2017.

Winners will be notified by direct message to the Twitter, Instagram or email account used to participate in the promotion within 3 business days of the selection. Prizes will be delivered to the winner’s specified address in Japan.

By uploading a photo to the Promotion Site, Eligible Participants agree to the following points:

1. Uploading photos When posting photos on Instagram and/or Twitter, Eligible Participants must follow the terms and conditions of the service provider. Eligible Participants are solely responsible for posting photos on Twitter, Instagram and to the Promotion Site. The Promoter and its related bodies corporate and agents associated with this Promotion will not be responsible for any content posted on Twitter, Instagram or the Promotion Site.

Photos posted, including accompanying comments, for which any of the conditions listed below in clause 2 apply will be disqualified from the Promotion. The Promoter and its related bodies corporate and agents associated with this Promotion will not answer any inquiries related to disqualification or the selection process.

2. Photos and/or illustrations that:
  • infringe on any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity, or other proprietary right of any party. (Please be aware that images available on the internet or in magazines are usually copyrighted material);
  • contain private information such as names or addresses;
  • are unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another’s privacy, tortious, contain explicit or graphic descriptions or accounts of sexual acts (including but not limited to sexual language of a violent or threatening nature directed at another individual or group of individuals), or otherwise violate our rules or policies;
  • victimize, harass, degrade or intimidate an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability;
  • constitute unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, junk or bulk email (also known as "spamming"), chain letters, any other form of unauthorized solicitation, or any form of lottery or gambling; and
  • violate the rules or policies of Twitter or Instagram.

3. Other points to note
  • If an Eligible Participant’s Twitter account is set as “protected” or his/her Instagram account is set as “private,” the submission will be disqualified and excluded from the selection process.
  • Twitter account [@Western Union Japan Photo Contest] and Instagram account [@Western Union Japan Photo Contest] are used for operations related to the Promotion only. Eligible Participants should be aware that we will not respond to any follow requests or direct messages.
  • Promoter and its related bodies corporate and agents associated with this Promotion are not liable for the cost incurred for the internet connection used to access the Promotion Site or participate in this Promotion. The cost may vary depending on the network the Eligible Participant is using. Eligible Participants are advised to contact their network provider for details.
  • Promoter and its related bodies corporate and agents associated with this Promotion are not responsible for any network error encountered while connecting or connected to the Promotion Site.

4. Use of uploaded photos Uploading a photo to the Promotion Site or posting a photo on Twitter with the hashtag #wusendingmoney or on Instagram with the hashtag #wusendingmoney will be deemed as consent by the Eligible Participant(s) to take part in any related publicity and to use their name, likeness, image and/or voice for advertising and other promotional purposes without compensation, except as otherwise prohibited by any applicable law.

THE WESTERN UNION® PHOTO CONTEST PROMOTION (“Promotion”)
PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Information on how to enter and the prizes forms part of these terms and conditions. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  2. The promoter is Western Union Japan K.K. (the “Promoter”).
  3. Entry is open to Japan residents aged eighteen (18) years or above who have a physical address that prizes can be delivered to in Japan and satisfy the entry requirements outlined in clause 5 below (“Eligible Participants”). Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, Western Union® Agents and Sub-agents, and service providers/ marketing agencies associated with this Promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.
  4. This Promotion commences on May 15th (Monday), 2017 at 00:00 (Japan Time) and ends on August 14th (Monday), 2017 at 23:59 (Japan Time) (“Promotion Period”) and is subject to extension by the Promoter. Entries received after 23:59 (Japan Time) on August 14th, 2017 (or a subsequent later Promotion Period end date) will not be accepted and will be deemed invalid.
  5. Eligible Participants can enter the Promotion in the following ways:
    • On Instagram, follow the Promotion account @Western Union Japan Photo Contest, take or select a photo, apply the template using the "Photo frame editor" and download the image. Then, add the hashtag #wusendingmoney and post the image on his or her Instagram account.
    • On Twitter, follow the Promotion account @Western Union Japan Photo Contest, take or select a photo, apply the template using the "Photo frame editor" and download the image. Then, add the hashtag #wusendingmoney and post the image on his or her Twitter account.
    • Take or select a photo, apply the template using the "Photo frame editor" and download the image. Then, register on the Promotion site at https://wu-japan.com/wu-photocontest (“Promotion Site”), insert the required information and upload the image directly.
  6. By uploading a photo to the Promotion Site, Eligible Participants agree to the following points: a. Use of uploaded photos Uploading a photo to the Promotion Site or posting a photo on Twitter with the hashtag #wusendingmoney or on Instagram with the hashtag #wusendingmoney will be deemed as consent by the Eligible Participant(s) to take part in any related publicity and to use their name, likeness, image and/or voice for advertising and other promotional purposes without compensation, except as otherwise prohibited by any applicable law.
  7. Multiple entries are permitted. Regardless of the number of entries, an Eligible Participant may only win once in the prize draw. If an Eligible Participant is drawn more than once, he or she will be awarded the highest valued prize (if different prize value). If an Eligible Participant wins a participation award prize based on criteria as set out in clause 8 below, he or she is still eligible to enter the draw for a chance to win the first prize or the second prize. However, each Eligible Participant is entitled to receive only one participation award prize during the Promotion Period.
  8. There will be one (1) draw on August 31st, 2017 and eleven (11) winners will be selected. The first prize winner will receive a ¥50,000 JCB Gift Card and 10 runners-up winners will each receive a ¥5,000 JCB Gift Card. For the participation award, there will be two hundred (200) winners. The first 50 Eligible Participants who upload photos each month (May, June, July or August) will each receive a McDonald’s gift card valued at ¥500 each.
  9. Winners will be notified by direct message to the Twitter account, Instagram account or email address used to participate in the Promotion within three (3) business days of the draw. Winners can specify a prize delivery address during the notification process. Prizes will be delivered to the winner’s specified address in Japan.
    For the participation award, winners will be notified on the following dates by direct message to the Twitter account, Instagram account or email address used to participate in the Promotion. For the participation award notification: Winners of May’s participation award: Between 29th of May and 2nd of June
    Winners of June’s participation award: Between 28th of June and 4th of July
    Winners of July’s participation award: Between 27th of July and 2nd of August
    Winners of August’s participation award: Between 29th of August and 4th of September
  10. In the event that any winner cannot be contacted within three (3) business days after the draw, even if contact was unsuccessful, and all reasonable efforts having been taken to contact the winner, the relevant winner will be deemed to have forfeited any prize without compensation, and the Promoter reserves the right to conduct a further draw for a replacement winner. If the Promoter cannot deliver the prize due to unknown address or any error in the address provided by the winner, the relevant winner’s entitlement to the prize will be considered invalid. The prize will be forfeited in favor of the Promoter without compensation to such winner.
  11. In the event that prizes become unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter may substitute with a prize of equal or greater value.
  12. The prize(s) are not redeemable for cash, and the winner(s) shall be responsible for any tax arising from winning the prize. The prizes are provided by a third party provider, subject to their respective terms and conditions as to product warranty. The third party provider will be responsible for any matters arising from or in connection with the prizes, services, and/or information they provide in relation to which the Promoter will have no liability whatsoever. Any enquiry or complaint regarding the prizes, services, and/or information should be directed to such third party provider.  The Promoter will not be held liable for the quality and availability of the prizes, services and information provided by the third party provider, and excludes liability in connection with the Promotion once the winner(s) enjoys any benefit relating to the Promotion of the full extent permitted by law.
  13. If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties or failures, unauthorized intervention or fraud, vandalism, power failure, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond the control of Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any Eligible Participant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion, as appropriate to give effect so far as reasonably possible to the original intent of this Promotion.
  14. Subject to any applicable laws which cannot be excluded, Promoter and its related bodies corporate and agents associated with this Promotion shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered or sustained by anyone (including, but not limited to, direct or indirect loss, consequential loss or loss arising from negligence) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with this Promotion or any prize provided as part of this Promotion.
  15. The Promoter collects personal information ("PI") in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this PI. The Promoter will also use and handle PI as set out in its Privacy Statement, which can be viewed at

    The Privacy Statement also contains information about how Eligible Participants may opt out, access, update or correct their PI, and how Eligible Participants may complain about a breach of their privacy or any other applicable law and how those complaints will be dealt with. The Promoter will not disclose Eligible Participant’s personal information to any entity outside of the country in which it was originally collected. A request to access, update or correct any PI should be directed to the Promoter.
  16. To the extent that there is any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and other marketing materials or collateral produced in relation to this Promotion, these terms and conditions will prevail.
  17. Promotion terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.
